Multiplayer progression is getting a lift in the October 29 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Infinity Ward says several modes now award more XP, making the route to your next level less dependent on the playlist you choose. That doesn't mean every match will pay out the same, but it should make switching modes feel less costly. If you're weighing up options such as MW4 Bot Lobbies, it's worth looking at the updated public playlists too. A few good matches can move both your player level and weapon progress along.
A Halloween Mode Joins the Mix
Possession arrives as a new Halloween Party Mode, giving players something different to try during the holiday weekend. The update doesn't spell out how long it'll stay, so don't assume you'll have another chance later. Play a few rounds and check for any associated objectives while you're there. If you're more interested in steady progression, the revised XP rates build on work the team discussed on October 25. The aim is to bring rewards across modes closer together, though the update doesn't specify exact increases. That leaves room to pick what you enjoy instead of chasing one supposedly perfect queue.
Where to Spend Your Matches
Shipment 24/7 is an easy pick when one weapon needs attention. The map is small, fights come quickly, and you'll spend little time searching for opponents. It's also a useful place to work on camo requirements, provided the actions you need count in the match. Frontline and Collateral offer a different pace. Play the objective and you can add score even when your aim is off. Gun Game is better for variety than focused weapon leveling, since your loadout changes as you earn eliminations. Kill Block, the 6v6 Gunfight option, is another choice for short rounds and practice with set loadouts. Free For All has a score limit of 30 and allows parties of up to two, so larger groups will need another playlist.
Tracking Progress Before Season 1
Before committing to a long session, take a look at your challenge menus. The October 28 update addressed missing camo progress counters and a menu issue that stopped the next tracked challenge from appearing after an unlock. It also addressed some melee and takedown actions that weren't counting. On October 29, the Calling Card menu received an update to keep completed unlock requirements visible. Movement feels a little different too: dive velocity was reduced by 23 percent while the team works on a longer term solution. Save XP tokens for a session when you've got time to play, and check progress between matches. With Season 1 scheduled for November 6, players considering cheap MW4 Bot Lobbies can also use the remaining days to test Possession, revisit objectives, and prepare their favorite weapons.
